I'm not sure how unpopular they are, but here are my personal opinions unique to me regarding entertainment, media, and franchises I'm following.

I care more about Shadow than I do for Sonic.
That much is obvious. I probably wouldn't take an interest in the Sonic franchise if they let Shadow die in SA2. Shadow has his developed moments at the end of his game and Sonic 06. Now SEGA and Archie are treating him like some edgy, violent, anti-heroic rival.

Mane Six personal rankings:
Most favorite: Twilight Sparkle
Either 2nd or 3rd favorite: Fluttershy and Rarity
4th: Applejack
5th: Rainbow Dash
6th: Pinkie Pie

I faved Twilight initially because her magic and teleporting are awesome like Shadow. Then I watch further, I feel like I identify with her more.

Fluttershy and Rarity. I can't decide who's second or third, so I'm placing them in-between.

Applejack. Let's say I prefer her over Rainbow Dash and Pinkie.

Rainbow Dash. I first heard of MLP from the Death Battle between her and Starscream. Then I google for Sonic vs Rainbow Dash, spotted the Animated James video, and I got into MLP. While she is the one whom I first know of MLP, I'm growing to despise her shortcomings in recent episodes. Such as being over-reactive over first-world problems, being brutally honest, making really dumb choices, and pretty much doing things an Element of Loyalty wouldn't do., like flying away from a friend's problem. Altogether, episodes focusing on her in recent seasons tend to be realistically depressing.

Pinkie Pie. Ugh, Pinkie...Every time she talks, whether on television or the IDW comics, I just want to force choke her and slam her body all over the place. She makes plenty of detrimental mistakes, and nopony calls her out on them. I like Luffy from One Piece, who shares an optimistic personality with Pinkie, because although he's silly and really dumb, his friends and enemies always humorously scold him for his idiocy. But Pinkie, she suffers no consequences; not even a slap on the wrist (or hoof). Also she loves parties, and I really really hate parties...

I favor villains over heroes.
Growing up playing Nintendo in the 90s, I grow tired of playing the hero in games. Then came Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the GameCube where I get to choose the dark side with Eggman initially wanting to conquer the world. After playing a bunch of strategic, historic war games, I then have a taste for conquest as I do now. All starting from Eggman, apparently.

If I do like a hero, they would have an appealing backstory, relatable characteristics, and being awesome.

Cartoons and animations> Live-action media
I don't know why. I always have been watching cartoons more often than I do for live-action. Why do I like cartoons and animations more? I can only list my assumptions:

Could be because the voice actors sound better than live-action? Sometimes live-action actors are soft-spoken so I can't hear them much. And live-action acting is a lot more hard work than voicing characters, where actors struggle to stay in character while being filmed on camera. For voice acting, it's reading a script outloud on a recording. Voice acting can sometimes sound more attuned in-character than live-action, but that's my opinion based on how I frequently watched animations with talented voices. Sometimes, voices can be dull and boring, and that could either be intentional or it's the voice actor and production to blame.

The live-action television series I had followed in the past are Heroes and Once Upon a Time. Then after waiting too long for hiatuses, along with crummy writing, struggling acting, and dialogue, I gave up on them.

I watch live-action more on movies than tv series. Some are classics like Godfather, Back to the Future, Star Wars, etc. When I watch live-action movies in recent times, it would be because the commercial is appealing, the story or setting in the film, or an actor/director/franchise I've been following.

If I do watch live television now, it would be the Academy's, some historical documentaries, and a little bit of news.

I am not excited for FFVII remake.
I believed I already said that I was into Nintendo in the 90s and not much else. So I didn't really play the first Playstation, and therefore didn't get into Final Fantasy then. I got the general picture of VII's story from the Advent Children's special feature in the DVDs. I started getting into Final Fantasy with X from a cousin's house. Then there's Kingdom Hearts, FFXIII trilogy, and upcoming Square-Enix's products I want to have when I get a PS4.

Opinion on Cartoon Network now.
I enjoyed Cartoon Network from the 90s and early 2000s. Courage the Cowardly Dog being my favorite. I enjoy watching Gumball now and then. Samurai Jack has finally return. I follow Sonic Boom, being more enjoyable than any Sonic shows I've seen.

For Cartoon Network in other shows and as a whole, let's say I feeling too old for them. Like Gumball, while enjoyable with references and satire, doesn't really have that classic writing style that Courage have. I didn't watch much or any on other shows because reasons I will explain later.

DC over Marvel.
Yeah, growing up watching their cartoons from the 90s to now, I am more so for Team DC. I also tend to read more DC comics than Marvel.

That, and DC animated features tend to have a decent plot than their live-action counterparts.

Recently, Superhero live-action films are stale.
First, you got your hero, then there's the villain or a rival hero, and you got yourself a plot already. It's becoming predictable, both for DC, Marvel, and other comics with movie adaptations.

Marvel has pretty much the same, boring plot with different characters, despite positive reviews from critics (I like to assume that they're bribed by Disney to say their movies are good).

DC is struggling recently. Large budget films on A-class actors, commercials and marketing, production staff and sets, and terrible writing for boring, long movies. Batman Begins is so far the one I enjoy watching through. For later Dark Knight sequels, I would skip to villains' screentime.

I do not like Godfather part 2.
Part 1 is a classic. Part 3 is easy to understand what's going on, and apparently I got my birth name from a character here.

Part 2 is too long and confusing for me. Something about Michael Corleone got an assassination attempt, something about a Jewish mafia, then Cuba before their revolution for some reason, and we get back-to-back moments with Vito Corleone's past.

Time-traveling stories are too confusing for me.
TV Tropes calls it the timey-wimey ball.
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php…

I enjoyed watching Back to the Future trilogy in my child-teenager hood from watching DVDs. Then as I got older and became writing savvy, I then realized too late on how 'paradoxically' flawed these time-traveling plots are.

I would accept a time-based story if they were somehow looking to the past or future from visions or magic, but not actively taken part in them via time travel.

Mixed views on Disney movies
Me and my sister love watching and re-watching them in our childhood then. Now that I'm in my mid-twenties and have a field of understanding writing, I find Disney movies too predictable.

Animated Features that are Oscar-worthy should be either PG-13 or rated R.
Because there's TOO many children-appealing animated ones.

Bleach and Naruto are overrated.
I first heard about them in the English-translated Shonen Jump magazines. It was, "Oh look there's Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Yu-Gi-Oh! And what's this? More mangas I haven't heard of?" This was a time before they got their English dubs. I was bored of Naruto and Bleach when reading their early chapters. When they got English dubbed by Viz Media, same English publishers for Shonen Jump, it was all over the Internet! I grew sick of them and their fans.

So far, the only manga/anime with a Shonen genre I'm currently following is One Piece. They didn't have a good start for English-speakers with the 4kids dub. I was one of the fans who joined the protest, until 4kids gave up their dubbing rights and Funimation picked it up. I am on hiatus of following the manga because I'm tired of waiting for weeks for the next chapter.

I am glad that Superman won in a Death Battle against Goku. And I am especially happy with the result of Toph vs. Gaara.
DC didn't really gain much of a victory in the first season, so this episode would be their redeeming moment.

I do not have a good experience with the Naruto fanbase, so I was, "Ha! In your face!"

I do not have a good opinion on Jason Griffith.
Not because of his portrayal over Sonic, Shadow, and Jet. Those are good. My antagonism is mostly because of his voice role of Ussop for sounding too overly silly. The ultimate culprit is 4kids, whom they cut out important scenes for being too dramatically graphic for kids.

Prefer Dubs over Subs.
If the setting isn't set in Japan, I don't see a good reason why it shouldn't be in English. It could be me growing up used to English-speaking dubs in the 90s.

Disapproval for free stuff in the internet
I could always google for free episodes of a show or movie I'm following, or find chapters of a comic or a manga. But I won't, because it's really bad for the franchises if I'm not buying their materials. Hence it's why I'm not comfortable google streaming for free stuff.

I am traumatized by the Magical Girl genre.
It started with my older sister's obsession with Sailor Moon, which is too girly for me then and now. There's that theme song my sister won't stop singing to. Their flashy transformation, poses, annoying catchphrases, and dresses you won't see casually outside of anime conventions. I can't remember the story plot because I was too young, but I remember it was something good vs evil type. Then there's the part where my sister invited her girlfriends to our house and they would refer to me that their, "Tuxedo Mask," because I'm the only boy in the house (not including my dad).

I pretty much avoided the Magical Girl genre since. When a friend brings up an anime with that genre I'm, "ugh, not another Sailor Moon." I would avoid the anime and never come back to it. XD

I hate the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game
I was into it from the first to GX and 5Ds that I would spend hundreds to thousands of parental allowance on a children's card game. Now I find it wasteful, other players keep beating me, and one friend, who's obsessed with the TCG, is now my worst enemy. I would enjoy watching the Abridged series for entertainment though.

I still haven't watch an episode of Game of Thrones.
Again, it could be my bias-ness towards live-action series. I got some parts of it from parodies, fan reactions, my cousin, and friends. Another reason is this:

I don't want to add too much franchises I'm following.
So far, I'm following Sonic (mainly for Shadow), MLP, One Piece, Final Fantasy, Star Wars, and historical-based games like Total War. Maybe a few bits of Lord of the Rings, DC, the Walking Dead, anime, and other games I've failed to mention. I don't want to add more to my list of faved franchises because I don't want to feel overwhelmed. Like there's this series I'm following, but then there's another episode I might have missed out, and mass confusions for me.

EDIT: forgot to include this.
Guts X Griffith is the only yaoi I like so far.
Their interaction seems so masterfully well written out in the Golden Age arc. That is, before Guts became....Berserk.

I was going to add my opinion on diverse cast in entertainment, but that's another time when I feel like making a journal entry over controversial real-life issues such as racism and politics.

Goku should have beaten Superman. Of course he kinda CANT because Superman's entire point is to be OP, but still. (Yes, I hate Superman where I would have him loose against absolutely everyone if I had a say in it.)
