*This journal was written on the day the episode broadcasted. Then I procrastinated later with video games that now I'm writing it.

In the trailers, we've seen Flurry Heart, a natural-born alicorn and offspring of Shining Armor and Princess Cadence. Then there's Starlight Glimmer re-uniting with her childhood friend to make amends. I personally wouldn't, since all of my childhood friends either became traitors or enemies. Sometimes I just made them my enemies because I couldn't stand them anymore. Hmph, so much for watching a show about the Magic of Friendship, and I've watched cartoons and anime in the past decade that won't shut up about it. But enough of my personal life, this journal is about the Season 6 premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Here we start off the episode with Starlight Glimmer. She is a little bit lost trying to find a library in Twilight's Castle, almost like how Maria would get lost in the Space Colony Ark. Spike points out the direction after Starlight bumps into him brushing his teeth. In the Castle library, Twilight has compiled a useless list of things for potential friendship resolutions, as if they helped her in the past (sarcastically speaking). So Starlight is now a pupil student of Twilight Sparkle and now lives in her castle? She took her in after nearly destroying the world? I personally wouldn't be that merciful, but this is a children's show. Pardons and redemption are given out easily, and there's one for Sombra in the comics. And as Twilight said in the episode and Shadow would've said the same, "I'm not one to dwell on the past." Twilight has compiled list of friendship lesson for Starlight, though they're more like assignments to procrastinate far away from as you can tell from Starlight's gaze.

And I was watching the episode with my mom. Rainbow Dash and Rarity are her favorite. She enjoys the opening and it's been awhile so, "ugh, may as well watch it alongside. "

The list of lessons were too much for Starlight, so Twilight has her report to the throne room with rest of the Mane Six on the upcoming event of the Crystal Empire, called the "Crystalling" as episodes part 1 and 2 are named after. None of us in the audience know what it is about, and neither do the ponies. Sounds very convenient for someone nerdy enough to explain. It has something to do with their baby, the crystal heart, some energy coming out of it, and Pinkie won't shut up about parties. I hate parties. I thought Twilight would explain, but instead it's Spike. After briefing his "heroic deeds," he conveniently brings out a Greek amphora (a vase with images) to explain the Crystal traditions. So anyone born (or is it just royalty?) within the Crystal Empire must be brought before the Crystal Heart, get the purest piece of crystal after examined by the crystaller (a what?), and the crystaller shows the baby in front of everyone. There everyone will feel joy and their emotional energies is channeled into the purest piece of crystal, which will then be a part of the Crystal Heart. So basically the Crystalling is like baptism...only without any sort of religious purification of children.

Apparently Starlight's old friend, Sunburst, resides there and it will be Twilight's first assignment for her to meet up with him. This would be anxiety-inducing of course. I would rather make age-old friends an enemy, so I would never see them again. But this is Starlight's assignment. What will she do? She doesn't talk about her hesitation to Twilight but instead to Spike the "most useful guy" around. She tells why the hesitation with Sunburst having a better future (unlikely) and have to honestly explain what she was doing, in which her past mischief involves being a Cult Leader of Cutie Marks and traveling back in time to ruin both Twilight's Friendship and the world.

So a flying snowflake of invitations arrives, train trip, and meet up with Shadow's potential brother-in-law Shining Armor at the station. And woah, he's a wreck! Apparently it's from seeing the baby we've already seen from the trailers. Don't they have family leaves? Not in the Crystal Empire as much as it isn't here in the US, excluding wealthy families who can afford leaves, my business cousin included. Twilight's in a dilemma of helping her family or Starlight's lesson. Spike volunteers to work with Starlight, so Twilight to do hers; much to Starlight's dismay when she doesn't want to meet up with her version of Applebloom's Twist. Now she's feeding Spike's vanity upon seeing his statue. That way, it'll keep him along enough to pass the day without meeting her lost soulmate. It is inevitable, so delaying it is pretty much a waste of time. When they meet Sunburst, awkwardness ensues with Starlight saying they must meet up with him as an assignment from Princess Twilight. Sunburst hesitantly says he's an important wizard doing important things. Yeah, that's not something an "important wizard," would say by being broad and general of his explanation. C'mon, we've seen through the fraud. It's not my first time where in the MMO game of Star Wars: the Old Republic, one Mon Calimari (same race as Admiral Ackbar) name Languss Tuno brags of being a Jedi Master when it turns out he didn't even pass Padawan. The same can probably be said for Sunburst of being an 'important wizard.'

Onto the firstborn alicorn. Does it have to be a surprise? It shouldn't be with the trailers, but Princess Celestia and Luna are present so an explanation must be made. Canonically speaking as told by Celestia, 'a newborn alicorn has never happened.' As we have seen with Twilight's ascension. But that would mean that neither Celestia, Luna, or Cadence are natural-born alicorn but had earn their status for a royal deed. Many headcanons of natural alicorns and OCs have been shattered. So the baby enjoys having Pinkie as a babysitter, seeing in the past that she has to be one. But once you separate the baby from the sitter, all hell breaks loose with a tantrum. And that tantrum was enough to shatter the Crystal Heart, all because of Pinkie. I swear she may as be the cause of all troubles in Equestria, creepypastas included. With the Crystal Heart gone, it would be vulnerable to the weathers of the Frozen North. Why should it be? Just call Elsa, some ice-user, Rainbow Dash, or the Princesses to stop it. But this is beyond the Princesses' capabilities as stated. Why should it? They can level the sun and moon easily, why not the weather? Of course that's pretty ignorant of me say, seeing that our North Pole is still cold even with global warming (won't be long though).

Back to Starlight and Sunburst's awkwardness, things haven't been working out. Spike says from Twilight's lesson to talk about things we've regretted most. That usually helps in being honest, but Starlight doesn't want to bring up her villainous past so it's a no-go there. Then it's been freezing. They figure something is wrong with the Crystal Heart and they return to the castle.

Twilight and Cadence hastily must look through the library for a spell to fix the Crystal Heart. While the rest must work with the PR without mentioning the Crystal Heart. They don't want to cause panic, but shouldn't the people know? At least they got to know the part that the baby is a alicorn. Shining Armor and Pinkie had to take care of a rabid newborn who's flying and teleporting all over the place. Right when they found a spellbook, the baby accidentally burns it. I've totally seen it coming. It's too good to be true that they found a way and there's 10-15 minutes left for the episode.

And now Twilight's back to being useless because it's up to another character to shine: Sunburst the "important wizard" recommended by Starlight Glimmer. But he says can't help, especially not on 1000-year old relic. Then he finally admits it, he's a fraud and in fact failed wizarding school, just like a Padawan failing in the Jedi Order. Starlight tells her side of the story of being a villain, surprising Sunburst for traveling in time. At least both are honest in the end, and Sunburst does know how to restore Crystal Heart even though he's a failed wizard. He says the spellbook wouldn't work anyways, so they must do as tradition inclines. Which is bringing the parents and baby in front of the people so they can store energies of "light and love" into purest shard of crystal. That should be suffice enough to restore the Crystal Heart. All they need is a Crystaller, which Sunburst is chosen because Twilight will be busy keeping the crystal in place along with Starlight, Princess Celestia, and Luna. All I've said has been done and Sunburst brings the baptized shard into the Crystal Heart and everything went well in the end (like every season premiere and ending). At the end of the episode, Twilight and Shining Armor's parents, Night Light and Twilight Velvet, finally arrives and have speaking roles for once. Their grandchild is named at the end "Flurry Heart" after all that's been done. Flurry, as in McDonald's McFlurry? Well that's what comes to mind whenever I hear "flurry."There's something more in the end I didn't pay much attention with Twilight's commentary of not being good enough of a teacher for Starlight and Spike cheers her up with something I forgot.

My thoughts on the episode. I believe the writers must've watched AnimatedJames's video, the man behind Sonic vs. MLP, on the brony fandom where he explains his experience there's no honesty around. So much so that they is no use having Applejack around. With this episode, involving Starlight and Sunburst's initial lack of honesty, maybe this is what the writers are going for. That's at least that's what I would say.
